What is Uprise D3 1000 used for?
Uprise D3 1000 is a vitamin D3 supplement. It is used to prevent or treat vitamin D deficiency, on a doctor's or pharmacist's advice.
- Preventing or treating vitamin D deficiency, which can cause rickets in children and bone pain and weakness (osteomalacia) in adults
How does Uprise D3 1000 work?
Vitamin D3 is changed by the liver and kidneys into its active form. This helps the gut absorb calcium and phosphate from food, which the body uses to keep bones, teeth and muscles healthy.
What happens in your body after you take it
You take the dose
Taken by mouth, usually with a meal, as the label or your doctor says.
Vitamin D3 is absorbed
Vitamin D3 is taken up in the gut and carried in the blood.
The liver and kidneys activate it
The body converts vitamin D3 in two steps into its active form.
It helps absorb calcium
Active vitamin D helps the gut take up calcium and phosphate, which bones, teeth and muscles need.
The body stores the rest
Vitamin D is stored in the body, so extra amounts taken over a long time can build up to harmful levels.

Other brands with the same medicine
Cholecalciferol 1000 IU is sold under other brand names and as generic products. They contain the same vitamin; check the label for the strength and form, and do not combine two products without asking your doctor or pharmacist.
Other strengths and forms
Vitamin D3 is sold in many strengths and forms, from low-strength daily supplements to high-strength products taken at intervals. The strength is printed on the pack and differs between products, so check the label of the one you have.
Common questions
What is Uprise D3 1000 used for?
It supplies vitamin D3 to prevent or treat vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium, which keeps bones, teeth and muscles healthy. A doctor or pharmacist should advise whether you need it and for how long.
Is Uprise D3 1000 a prescription medicine?
Check the pack, where the schedule and licensing are printed. Vitamin D products are widely sold, but a doctor or pharmacist should advise how much you need, since the right amount depends on your vitamin D level.
Can I take too much vitamin D?
Yes. The NHS says adults should not take more than 100 micrograms (4,000 IU) a day unless a doctor advises, because excess can build up calcium and harm the kidneys, heart and bones. Count all products with vitamin D.
Can I take Uprise D3 1000 with a calcium tablet?
Vitamin D helps the gut absorb calcium, so the two are often used together. Check the label amounts of both and ask your doctor or pharmacist before combining products, because too much of either can raise blood calcium.
What is the difference between Uprise D3 1000 and cholecalciferol?
Uprise D3 is a brand name and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is the vitamin inside it. Other products contain the same vitamin at different strengths, so check the amount on the pack.
