What is Lyrica 75 used for?
Lyrica 75 is a prescription medicine for adults. It is used, on a doctor's advice, to relieve nerve pain, to treat some types of seizures and to treat generalised anxiety.
- Relieving nerve pain, such as pain after shingles or nerve damage from diabetes
- Treating some types of seizures in epilepsy, as decided by a doctor
- Treating generalised anxiety disorder in adults
How does Lyrica 75 work?
Pregabalin binds to a protein on nerve cells and reduces the release of chemical messengers that carry over-active signals. This calms nerve activity, which can reduce nerve pain, seizures and anxiety.
What happens in your body after you take it
You swallow the capsule
The capsule dissolves in the gut and pregabalin is absorbed into the blood. It can be taken with or without food.
It travels in the blood
Pregabalin is carried around the body and reaches the brain and the nerves.
It settles over-active nerves
In nerve cells it attaches to a protein that helps release chemical messengers, so fewer over-active signals pass on.
Pain, seizure or anxiety signals ease
With less over-active signalling, nerve pain can lessen, seizures become less likely and anxiety can ease. It may take days or weeks to judge the effect.
The body clears it
Pregabalin leaves the body mainly through the kidneys, so people with kidney disease may need a different dose. Stopping suddenly can cause withdrawal.
How to take Lyrica 75
Take Lyrica 75 exactly as your doctor has prescribed or as printed on the pack. Your doctor decides the dose and how long you need it.
- Take it at regular times each day, the same way each day.
- It can be taken with or without food.
- If you miss a dose, take it when you remember, unless the next dose is due within 2 hours; then skip it. Do not take two doses together.
- Do not stop suddenly, even if you feel better. Your doctor reduces the dose gradually.
- It is for adults only; it is not for children under 18.

Medicines and things that interact with Lyrica 75

- Alcohol: can add to sleepiness and dizziness
- Herbal remedies and supplements: not enough information to be sure they are safe together
If someone takes too much
Taking more than prescribed can cause sleepiness, confusion, agitation, seizures or fainting. Call 112 or go to the nearest hospital and take the medicine pack with you. Do not drive yourself.
